Hands On History is a new educational outreach program of the North Olympic History Center aimed at students and families.

From its beginnings in 1948, the goal of the North Olympic History Center (formerly the Clallam County Historical Society), has been to preserve and interpret the historical record of our area and the people who shaped its development. We do this through our:

The NOHC's Research Library, Artifact Storage Facility and Administrative Offices are located on the southeast corner of West 8th and "C" Streets in Port Angeles.  If you are driving, turn south onto "B" Street (toward the mountains) off of 8th Street, then west/left onto 9th Street. Parking is in the gravel lot just south of the old school building. Lincoln School is also accessible by Clallam Transit, Cherry Hill Bus #24. Call the library at (360) 452-2662.

The Research Library is the home of our document collection containing 10,000 photographs, books, manuscripts, maps, newspapers, oral histories, and vertical file material. The Research Library is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and by appointment. 

The artifact collection covers all aspects of Clallam County’s history and contains an incredible variety of objects too broad to describe.
